What are SIGHT WORDS?
Sight words are common words that young learners need to be able to recognize instantly - without sounding them out. Sight words account for up to 75% of the words used in childrens' text, making recognition of them critical to becoming faster, more fluent readers. Many sight words are tricky to read, as they aren't spelled the way they sound. For this reason, we've created a series of videos and accompanying lessons to help your child learn quickly and easily how to master Sight Words today!

Why are SIGHT WORDS important?
- Sight words promote confidence. Because sight words represent so much of children's text, recognizing these words quickly can help a child feel confident as they're reading.
- Sight words help promote reading comprehension. When a child starts to read a book and already knows many of the words, they have more time to focus on new words, taking time to sound them out without feeling discouraged, and ultimately leading to a better understanding of what they're reading.
- Sight words provide clues to the context of the text. Sight words can help a child decipher the meaning of a paragraph or sentence.
